Awareness Programme on Standard and Labeling 2017, Gangtok


The State Designated Agency, Energy & Power Department, Government of Sikkim a nodal agency of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India supported by Gangtok Municipal Corporation has organised one-day awareness programme on Standard and Labeling(star label) of electrical appliances to Electrical vendors, dealers,retailers and Agencies of East District on 22nd Sept 2017 at Hotel TashiDelek, M.G.Marg.

As per the Energy Conservation Act 2001 the electrical appliances should have minimum Energy Efficiency Standard for energy conservation and accordingly the electrical vendors, dealers, retailers and agencies were sensitized to sell the star labled electrical appliances only. Shri Dilip Kumar Sharma, Additional Chief Engineer-cum-Nodal officer, State Designated Agency urged the gathering for their support to make the Energy Conservation programme a success in the state of Sikkim. He also highlighted the various schemes on energy conservation implemented in the state.

The power point presentation was made on Energy Conservation by Ms. NawangChodenLepcha, Junior Engineer and Ms. Devika Chettri, consultant who highlighted about Energy Conservation Act 2001 and on the main subject of awareness programme i.e. Standard and Labelingpresented by Shri Pemba Lepcha, Executive Engineer, State Designated Agency.

On the occasion the guest of honor Shri Sonam Chopel, Deputy Commissioner, Gangtok Municipal Corporation suggested to incorporate declaration tosell of star rated items only during renewal of electrical trade licence w.e.f. next financial year. The vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Siri Kumar Gurung, Superintending Engineer (SDA)
